PERU: A Transformational Journey

Stay tuned for our next journey to Lake Titicaca & Journey to the Stars

AN ALL-INCLUSIVE JOURNEY

Pilgrimage is the kind of journeying that marks just this move from mindless to mindful, soulless to soulful travel. The difference maybe subtle or dramatic; by definition it is life-changing. It means being alert to the times when all that’s needed is a trip to a remote place to simply lose yourself, and to the times when what’s needed is a journey to a sacred place, in all it’s glorious and fearsome masks, to find yourself. -Phil Cousineau

We are returning to the Motherland of Peru! This is our fourth pilgrimage to this sacred, healing land as we visit the Sacred Valley - the mirror of the Milky Way. We are honored to travel with our friend and guide Don Jorge Luis Delgado, esteemed Peruvian elder, shaman, teacher, and founder of Kontiki Tours. This all-inclusive 10 day and 9 night retreat and cultural adventure cultivates your mind/body/spirit connections, and is absolutely a transformative journey of a lifetime!

Lily will be in constant touch with you to support you in the correct flight itinerary, packing tips, inspirational videos and books!

YOUR GUIDES

Don Jorge Luis Delgado, Peruvian Mystic, elder, shaman, teacher, author, and founder of Kontiki Tour Company. Don Jorge is a Keeper of the knowledge of the Incas and teaches that a new consciousness is emerging, one leading to a Golden Age. Born to an Aymara healer, he received his early training from the Kallawaya shamans of Lake Titicaca, the Wise Ones of the Andes, and from the Q’ero elders who are the last tribal Inca descendants.  Don Jorge assists in healing for all who are ready, and freely shares his wisdom with the world to support the dream that it is time for humanity to awaken and live fully in love, peace and oneness. Don Jorge’s full bio is in the itinerary.

Lily and Michael Kessler have led spiritual tours to India, Morocco, Costa Rica, Bali, Peru, Mexico, and Spain, and are thrilled to return to Peru’s Sacred Valley. The fruits of these travel experiences support their life’s work, which honor Yoga’s roots and other Universal philosophies. They believe becoming immersed in a new culture opens you to inner and outer growth, which is a key to heart-expansion and bringing out the best in all people. This Peruvian tour is their favorite experience, not only for the magnificent wonders and sites, but these places come alive due to Don Jorge’s invitation to connect to Pachamama, Earth Mother. You will feel energies like you’ve never experienced before!

FYI

  • LINKS TO HOTELS

  • What are the age ranges that typically join?

We have traveled with people 16-84 years old, all on the same trip, too! All in the average age is 35-80+. Younger children are welcomed to join, yet there is no child-discount.

  • How much hiking is involved?

5 miles - or less - a day is the average amount we walk. Each day starts early with a tour directly after breakfast, and we will be touring until the later afternoon. You can skip tours and spend time enjoying the hotel grounds or the city, depending on where we are. Everyday offers magical opportunities to see sites unlike anything on the planet. We will hike everyday on well-traveled trails that people have been using for hundreds of years. Many people have found walking sticks to be helpful (they must have tips on the ends), and sneakers are acceptable.

  • Has anyone experienced difficulties with high elevation?

Before you acclimate, you will initially feel the higher elevation through shortness of breath, lightheadedness, and fatigue. Larger symptoms include upset stomach, nausea, or loss of appetite. NOTE: acute illness has NOT been an issue for any traveler on any of our tours. Slowing down is a focus, and ample hydration is the main way to alleviate altitude sickness. We recommend you bring hydration/electrolyte booster supplements, yet energy/electrolyte drinks are available in all towns. Lily will ensure you are safe, hydrated, comfortable.

  • Due to high elevation, is their oxygen support?

There will be an oxygen tank with our tour bus each day, and each hotel is equipped with oxygen.

  • How much Yoga is involved?

The entire trip is a Yoga practice! We will be moving our bodies a lot while touring. Jorge will lead us through meditations, ceremonies, and rituals in each location we visit, to tune us into the energetic vibrations of the land. Yoga will be offered by Lily and Michael, but a class will be an organic experience depending on the energetic levels of the group and the day’s schedule, and any offering is voluntary. Often fellow travelers have offered to teach impromptu classes!

  • Does the day begin early?

Most days will have an early morning wake-up in the most beautiful scenery imaginable, as Jorge requests we leave by 9am at the latest. We will have a 5am wake-up to experience sunrise at Machu Picchu, but the energy and joy among the locals and fellow travelers will energize you… and you’ll have a chance to nap and integrate on your own time later in the day.
